USING THE NAAMS STAMPING WEBSITE

1. READING THE FILES requires that you have Adobe Acrobat Reader.  To download the latest version, currently 6, click the “Get Adobe Acrobat Reader” button at the bottom center, opening page of the NAAMSSTANDARDS website.   The printing tips (Item 2) are based on version 6.

The website was changed on June 17, 2003, eliminating the option of downloading individual pages and providing only for downloading full chapters.  To download a chapter, click on the chapter letter or title.

To view individual pages, scroll to the desired page or click on the page number in the first column of the index page (first page in each section).

2. Printing (based on version 6)

Open the Print dialogue box (File, Print: or Ctrl + P: or print icon).  The Print Range defaults to “All”.  You can also select the current page or current view, or specify a range of pages.  You can optionally select even or odd pages, which is useful when printing on both sides of the paper.

To minimize the margins, and thus maximize the printed area, in the Page Handling area, Page Scaling box, select None.

To print on both sides of the paper:

·         Select the range of pages you want to print

·         In the subset box (which defaults to “All pages in range”) select “even pages”

·         Check “Reverse pages”

·         Print

·         Place the pages back into the printer feed

·         In the subset box select “odd pages”

·         Uncheck “Reverse pages”

·         Print

3. TO SEE THE CHANGES THAT HAVE BEEN MADE:
The individual pages allow only enough room to indicate the occurrence and vertical location of a change. Each change is identified with a capital letter in a box located in the right margin. A description of each change made, including the effective date of the change, is recorded on the Logsheet.

5        LOCATING A NAAMS STAMPING CODE NUMBER

NAAMS Stamping codes consist of a letter, which indicates the chapter, followed by 6 numerals.  The first two numerals are usually the series number, which is listed in the third column of the index page (first page of each chapter), (except for chapters C and D).  The first column lists the page(s) where the individual codes are tabulated and described.

Chapter D, Dies Cast Materials, does not contain NAAMS codes.

Chapter C, Cams:

e.g. C110535 indicates an aerial cam with a 50 mm mounting face width; it is shown on page C-6.  C210535 indicates a die mounted cam with a 50 mm mounting face width; it is shown on page C-17.
