The North American steel and the automotive industry, in partnership, continue to find ways to make steel more effective in tomorrow’s vehicles. Together we are driving steel products to be reinvented regularly and, as a result, are helping solve today’s tough engineering challenges, such as mass reduction and improving vehicle safety, fuel economy, recyclability and quality.
Because we know that steel must be continually reinvented according to the new demands of the automotive industry, the Auto/Steel Partnership is working on accelerating the development of new grades, a 3rd Generation of advanced high-strength steel.
The 25 years of collaborative research since that birth have helped enable a sizable transformation in the automotive steel products and the processes we use today and will continue to drive improvements in fuel economy, safety, quality and the environment.
