The Auto/Steel Partnership, in collaboration with the United States Automotive Materials Partnership LLC, and the U.S. Department of Energy is developing technology to enable the production of third-generation advanced high-strength steel (3GAHSS) for passenger vehicle weight reduction. The project goal is to reduce the lead time in developing and applying lightweight 3GAHSS by integrating material models of different length scales into an Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME) model. The ICME model will be used to predict final properties of manufactured components of a vehicle system thereby enabling the design of lightweight automotive components using 3GAHSS.
