Tom Buffetta leads Toyota Motor North America (TMNA) Production Engineering headquarters functions based in Georgetown, KY. Tom’s area of responsibility includes Stamping, Welding, Paint, and Plastics as well as overseeing new model/new plant project teams for all projects cross the Toyota plants located in Canada, Mexico and the U.S.
Tom has been with Toyota Production Engineering for more than 30 years. His focus has been on Assembly, Stamping, and New Model development for manufacturing. Tom has enjoyed diverse experiences with the company. He joined Toyota in Japan and worked there for nearly four years, then moved to Detroit, MI to join TMNA’s Production Engineering headquarters. Tom as also based out of Toyota’s R&D facility in Ann Arbor, MI for 4 years to focus on improving Toyota’s development for manufacturing processes. Other assignments include the start-up of Toyota’s manufacturing facilities in Baja California, MX, and Tupelo, MS. Tom’s passion is people development. He recognizes that an organization will only ever be as great as the people that make up the organization. Tom holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University.
